Especially the bit where it goes "let's go inside and load our lovely new guns and then it'll be -bang bang bang- and Bird Pie for supper."

I first read this story as a child, and loved it then.  Having just re-read it with our youngest (who enjoyed it), I didn't find it quite so entertaining this time round.
