Nabokov has written the most delicious, seductive prose I have ever read. I can effectively measure my life (well, at least my reading life) in two sections - before and after I read Lolita.

This is one of those books that I just know I will never re-read. I honestly didn't want to pick this book up. Whilst reading it I hated it, it was uncomfortable. Yet Humbert was a fascinatingly repulsive character and the writing was engulfing.
"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta."

me he pasado la última hora borrando y reescribiendo esta reseña, y ninguna versión me dejó satisfecho. si sigo intentando, me voy a volver loco de tristeza, así que por ahora les dejo esto: lolita es una obra tan brillante como perturbadora, capaz de incomodar incluso en sus momentos más estilísticamente bellos. hubo momentos en los que quise dejarla, pero no pude porque no quería dejar sola a dolores, por más ilógico que eso suene. no puedo darle las cinco estrellas que muchos creen que merece, pero reconozco que este libro es una obra ingeniosa e impecable. en definitiva, es un texto que admiro por su maestría, pero que no estoy dispuesto a volver a leer.
