A very moving story about family and living in tune with nature. My only complaint would be the ending, though. I wish there was just a tiny bit more of an explanation. Some more hint of what happens to everyone.

This was a very emotional read for me, I felt like I have lived years with these individuals, who are all both deeply flawed and hurt, but who also only crave connection and family. It may sound weird to say that I’m proud of fictional characters, but in a way I am with this group, or at the very least those who they represent. They may get things wrong, sometimes a lot wrong, but their hearts are in the right place at the end and I think anyone can agree that at the end of the day they are determined to keep their family together. Someone recently asked me to recommend a book that I thought of as representing home for me, and I chose this one. I did so because, to me, home isn’t necessarily a place where you reside, but a place where you can find your family, no matter how unconventional that family may be.
This book was highly recommended to me, but honestly so much of it was a slog to get through and the ending was abrupt and seemed to cut in the middle of the climax. The overall story was fascinating and written fairly well, but the action was incredibly tedious.

I would like to reread this with a physical copy sometime to see if it is more profound to me that way. I found the prose style clunky for an audiobook (excessive dialogue tags, etc) but I do want to read it again, because I Want to love this book, the story is very interesting to me, I may have just picked the wrong format.
