Oorsprong: doorgeefkast @ stadskantoor hengelo.

Film aantal jaar geleden gezien. Verschilt op sommige punten behoorlijk van het boek.

Had all the makings of a potentially good story: good vs evil, indulgence vs restriction, us vs them, etc. And yet, the story never went anywhere. I didn't feel a pull toward any one character. And despite reading 50% of the book, I didn't feel I knew any more about the characters than I did at the beginning. I enjoyed the format of alternating perspectives, but it ultimately didn't add much to the "conflict." I will commend the writer for her ability to sculpt lovely imagery, especially Vianne's shop and the town.

Written very well and worth reading for that but the lessons and story are better in the movie. Author had a lot of weird shit to add to this classic story in the last 70 pages. Hard to finish but really excellent in the beginning.

I actually started this book some time ago, but school got in the way of finishing it. I really enjoyed this writer's style of writing, the details of the story are just so vivid and precise. Beautifully written! As a side note... I began the book, saw the movie when I had just over half of it read, then finished the book. I actually prefer the book over the movie, as usual. Movies just can't capture the incredible descriptions from the book!
