This book had me engrossed from the start. I love a book that mixes reality and video games and, Boy this does the trick

This is a solid mystery book.

I enjoy a book that has fun and action, and shares a serious thought or two about life like Click Here to Start does. The plot keeps moving as Ted navigates a real-life exit game (escape the room or HOGs - Hidden Object Games) his uncle designed for him shortly before the uncle's death. Along the way Ted learns about the Japanese American unit that his uncle fought with in World War II and the American Japanese Internment camps, and about the value of friendship and how to be a better friend. While not perfect, SLJ points out that the writing sometimes subtly reinforces stereotypes instead of destroying them, and Ted makes a couple of dangerous decisions - hopefully the intended audience readily understands this as they devour the novel to each it's conclusion.

It was an interesting enough read. You have adventure, mystery, treasure, action and cast of funny characters. What can you wish more?

Ted, Caleb and new friend Isabel solve a mystery that Ted's great uncle left him. Super cute middle school appropriate mystery adventure. 3.5 stars

Twelve year-old Ted is the only one to hear his Great Uncle's final words before his passing, and it turns out these words send him on an exciting treasure hunt. Ted, an avid gamer, uses his awesome gaming knowledge to solve the clues left behind by his Uncle. This treasure hunt alone makes for a fun read. What takes this book up to the next level is the fact that Ted is half Japanese, and his Great Uncle served in WW2 in the 100th Battalion -- the all Japanese Battalion. I loved how much Japanese American history is interspersed into this fast paced and gripping mystery.

An exciting adventure for kids who are into computers, puzzles, and literature.
