An action-packed thriller with fanatical cults, sentient intelligence, and characters that will go to endless lengths to protect their families, CRUCIBLE is an exciting military adventure that long-time fans of James Rollins are sure to love.

Commander Gray Pierce and his best friend Monk have their worlds shaken when their lovers and children are attacked and kidnapped. While mounting a desperate rescue op, Sigma Force finds themselves facing off with a doomsday cult bent on using an incredibly powerful AI system to end the world.

CRUCIBLE can be read by longtime fans and new readers who don't want to read the entire series. There are clear references and Easter eggs, but I found that I could understand everything that was happening without previous knowledge. The characters are entertaining and adapt to truly terrible situations, pushing themselves to the limits. The story is fast paced and exciting, even as it enters truly mind bending territory.

A perfect read for anyone who is looking for something fast, entertaining, and filled with action!

Eye opening, riveting, and SCARY!! To think where the world could be headed is both fascinating and at the same time terrifying. James Rollins does a fantastic job of intertwining the two in Crucible. I have read all previous Sigma Force novels and this may be my favorite.

I listened to the audiobook. 15 hours. Too long. Some of the science was unbelievable and stretching the limits of credulity but it was based on fact! Just another fascinating fusion of Catholic heresies and artificial intelligence taking over the world to become god-like. Obscure sects dating from the Spanish Inquisition continue to hunt for witches in the modern world while plotting to steal a next generation AI system to control the world by destroying it. Sigma gets involved but then has wives and children of its team members kidnapped by third parties who seek to have Sigma acquire the AI for them. Mostly set in Spain, France, and the USA.

Malleus Maleficarum, Maléficas, earum heresim, ut phramea potentissima conterens.

Bruxas;
Inquisição espanhola;
Portugal;
Espanha;
França;
Estados Unidos da América;
Inteligência artificial;
Tratamentos inovadores aos estados de consciência alterada, aos pacientes em estado comatoso;
Viagens no tempo e teoria quântica.

Only James Rollins has this power to make me laugh out loud, cry like a baby, and terrify me all in one book.

AI is the terror of the day and in a world like Rollins’, where science and tech go wildly astray at the drop of a hat, it’s pretty frightening.

Grab a coffee or three and buckle up, this one kept me up most of the night.

Once again James Rollins pulls fact and fiction together, more fact than you imagine, to create another Sigma Force novel. This one focus on witches, the Spanish Inquisition and the modern day development of AI. The characters, as always, are bigger than life and I found myself having a chuckle even in the middle of Paris burning. I loved the afterward that separated the fact from the fiction and internet rabbit hole I went down looking up all the factual information that he pulled together for this adventure. Highly recommend every one of James Rollins Sigma Force books.
