This book really differentiates itself from a lot of Christie’s other work.
The characters lacked a bit of the quirkiness that I’ve come to know from her, making them feel as though from a different time, and the last 50 pages or so evolve into a sort of sci-fi horror, which I found extremely fascinating and really showed off the talent that Christie possessed!
Definitely a read that kept surprising me.

Why isn't this book more famous, and why haven't I read it before? why?why?why?
i think it's one of her best and most profound books. She draws her characters with fantastic detail and color, while touching on their deepest motives and instincts. The plot may not amount to much in 21st century standards, but it was something to be considered at the time.
I waited so long to read this book, and even longer to finish it, but it was worth the wait.

I was very surprised to see the low ratings of this book. I personally loved it, maybe because it was one of the first Agatha Christie books I read so I didn’t go in with any expectations.
I found the story beautiful and thrilling, and although one or two things wouldn’t go over well if it was written today, most of the book still holds up and kept be guessing almost until the end.
I quite enjoyed this book, and am excited to read majority of her works.

This book was definitely not one of my favorite Christie books. The mystery about why scientist were disappearing sort of fell flat. Most of the characters were not believable and the danger and intrigue were built up and then nothing really happened. The bit of romance actually is what saved the book for me. Glad for a happy ending.
