My first Aldiss and it was a pleasant read. A typical 1950s Sci-Fi with the usual stereotypes. A unique setting for its time now often copied. A few interesting human reactions to their changing environment. An element of mystery was a plus and certainly kept my attention.

This is an intriguing puzzle of a book that slowly reveals its secrets to the reader, painting a picture of a person and of an entire universe in a way that will keep you guessing. I strongly recommend it...it's an SF classic.
