It was funny, but not laugh-out-loud funny. I smiled and snickered a bit. Some cultural allusions were over my head. Read the Cliffs Notes, and that helped. Great characters and conversations. Overall entertaining and fun to listen to (Librivox audio book).

This is the only the second time reading Oscar Wilde, and I've already become a huge fan.
The story is so quick and witty and overall fantastic. The title, itself is brilliant. It plays on the name Ernest and the quality 'ernest'. The story has so many little jokes throughout, the cucumber sandwiches, Bunbury, tea cakes etc.

The things I absolutely loved were that Jack saying over and over about not having a brother and never wanting one and finally end up having one and that his name do end up being Ernest.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone.

I could use my analytical literary lens to write an in-depth review dissecting the themes and social commentary in this play, but I'm not going to. Instead, I'm simply going to say: THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN. It's over the top, frivilous, ironic, witty and completely silly. Admittedly, not everyone that reads it will click with it, but if you let yourself go along for the ride it's such an entertaining read. I was grinning from ear to ear from beginning to end. I would definitely read it again. For such a short read its packed with laughter and wit, which I feel could never get old.

funnier than i thought it would be, think it's wiser than it actually is. i was a little confused at times, but it didn't distract me too much. the illustration style was simple but effective. overall the work was not completely satisfying, but still enjoyable!
