i love this story so much. its relatable, heartbreaking, adorable, gay, romantic and alyssa feel like people as opposed to the movie, which is a chaotic mess, and does only three things well. but this feels so much better fleshed out and well written that it makes you so emotionally invested that it feels real. and the ending feels realistic people grow, but not all of them. and the prom for everyone feels like the greatest and most natural and ever. proving that thorough it all, love prevails.

Honestly this didn’t do a lot for me. I liked the story of Emma and Alyssa, but the sub story of the failed show and then subsequent interfering just frustrated me.
When you get past that to the issue of Emma being banned from the prom and it blowing up into a homophobia debate, it started working a little better for me, but I feel that the “drama” of the New York crowd felt unnecessary and the book would be better if it was just about Emma, Alyssa and Emma’s amazing nan. Obviously, as this is based on a show, that was never going to happen but I just didn’t think it worked that well as a book.
2.5 stars.

I lost the interest, but I will try to read it again
