Baako is the absolute best. I feel like half the story is pretty boring, but the Baako storyline is so good it makes up for it.

I've read almost all books by Rollins, and this is definitely his best. Fascinated and well-researched storyline, likeable new and old characters, disgusting and (unfortunately) utterly plausible villains plus a lot of mysteries and even more action. I've devoured it in one go and loved every single minute.

A really good read in the vein of Matthew Reilly. Nice stuff for conspiracy nuts, pretty current themes regarding genetic manipulation, and the action is intense. Great fun.

This wasn't a bad book, just not one that held my interest. I made it probably half-way through and decided that it is definitely one I can recommend to those looking for action/adventure books, but it is just too much plot and not enough of everything else for me.

This marks the third novel I've read/listened to in this series. Blown away for the third time!

I think it's a by-product of the reader though. The guy is absolutely incredible.

Anyway, the novel is similar in style to the other two in the series I've read (Sandstorm, The 6th Extinction). It's a fast-paced, military/espionage thriller, with a dash of treasure hunt adventure thrown in. It really is such an amazing combination of genres to form such a compelling story.

The premise is also similar to the other two novels in that there is an absolute foundation of realism and factual science and lore behind everything. It's a different take on the age-old Atlantis myth/legend and it is extremely intriguing. One of these days I'm going to have to sit down and do a significant amount of research and see just how factual some of the backgrounds of these novels are. I love this series because it seems that while the general Sigma Force unit is always going to be the focal point, it isn't always the same main character. In this novel you have people other than Painter as the focus of this story and that is absolutely fantastic. While I'm a firm believer of the fact that you don't need to read these books sequentially, you can tell there are aspects that build on each other throughout the story, but the best part is that they are not mission critical so-to-speak. Speaking of missions, I also really enjoy that the chapters are set up so that it reads as if you're reading an action packed, well-written mission log/report. It lends a touch more of the realism to the story.

Overall I was really pleased with the book. The pacing is great, the writing and prose are great, and the character development, human and animal alike, is also great. I love the melding of legends of Atlantis and The Missing Link. It's really quite amazing. I whole-heartedly recommend this entire series based off of the three books I've read so far.

I enjoyed this more than the previous one in the series. Renewed my interest in the sigma force.
