Wonderfully illustrated, though the stories were gruesome. Anthony Bourdain is truly missed.

*trigger warning: sexual assault*
Although a bit graphic for me, the short story lines were easy to read. There's definitely a common theme of food, but the endings are about the same.

A quick read. Cover to cover in maybe 30 minutes. I'm not usually a fan of graphic novels, but had to get this one because of Anthony Bourdain. I really enjoyed the illustrations. "Yuki-Onna: The Snow Woman" was my favorite story of the bunch.

It's a cool concept, but the writing is a little bit clunky, and not quite as streamlined as it needs to be for such short stories. I've been reading Hellboy at the same time, and it's incredible what Mike Mignola does with so few words in so little space, so it's possible I'm making an unfair comparison.

Wow. I was expecting a lot more. The stories are weak and feel rushed—underwhelming to say the least—and I’m saying this as a fan of Bourdain, horror, and comic books. Artwork is OK, I guess. Not worth buying—borrow it or check it out from the library if you want to read it.

Anthony Bourdains Hungry Ghost
by Anthony Bourdain
2018
Berger

Bourdains graphic novel is an interesting take on International dining, with spirits that will make you squeal. Each story has it's own artist, and several of the stories really worked for me. The Pirates, Deep were good. The creepiest one, for me, was Boil In The Belly
This includes recipes and a guide to the spirits behind the horror in this book.
Not great....not bad.....recommend

Okay so I was really excited because I loved Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. And in a lot of ways, this book is a continuation of the themes he explored on the show, of mocking the rich and the wanton and seeing the beauty of little known myths and under-appreciated customs. Built around the premise of an ancient Japanese game of nerves, each player takes a turn telling a horrifying story leading to the climatic ending. It’s not the best illustrated comic, nor the most original stories, but it’s entertaining & packs a few good recipes too.
