This book had a very interesting plotline and was thought-provoking and beautiful.
I did think the romance was not as well-developed as it could have been only because they didn’t have a lot of time to know each other but it was supposed to be this epic love. But I get that feeling, and I did really like the characters and their relationship.
I also found it weird though that Ash only really cared about Poppy after her death and barely thought of her family even though they were a big part of the book beforehand.

this book could’ve been a 5 star if the author had only published the first part and left the second part in her draft.
i absolutely loved the atmosphere in "Before” reminded me of the movie "Blue (2002)" the development of the relationship between the characters was so smooth that it made me feel like the entire world had collapsed leaving only Ash and Poppy alone and yet they still managed to find peace in that situation and enjoy each other's company.
i also liked the writing it was so simple yet it carried so much power and depth in its meaning.
usually i avoid reading books with teenage protagonists because they are often poorly written either too naive and foolish or lacking emotional maturity and as a reader i can't really complain because that's exactly how teenagers are.
anyway all of that changed once i started reading the second part “After” nothing made sense and the story took a nosedive

Well, this felt like it the TV show Dead Like Me was about queer British teenagers and not particularly funny. The post-it notes, the changes in appearance, the conspiring against the head reaper…
