dawg I’m crying real tears over here
“the lesbian love story you’ve been dying to read”
i adored this book from start to finish, and knew from the first few pages that it was going to destroy me and be one of my favorites. the story follows Ash, a Indo-Guyanese teenager in the UK who meets Poppy on a school trip. they quickly fall in love and start planning their future together, until a car accident takes Ash’s life on New Year’s Eve, meaning she has to serve as the reaper for that year. she lives amongst everyone she ever knew, but they won’t be able to recognize Ash until it’s their time to go. when Poppy one day recognizes Ash, can it mean they have a chance to be together again in what comes after?
this book is so beautifully written that it brought me to tears several times. the writing of the love story between Poppy and Ash is so wonderful and heartbreaking. im usually not a fan of instalove like this but it’s so right for the age of the characters. the book properly explains the grim reaper plot in such a beautiful “before” and “after” format. it’s such a beautiful story of love, loss, hope and the transcendence of the three that is moving and should be required reading for everyone.
