It was simply boring. I wasn’t engaged at all and the characters fell flat for me. It was at a point where I was purposefully looking up spoilers to keep myself engaged but the only think that the spoilers revealed was that this was a bad written book with almost no remaining qualities.
I felt that the way the characters were written sounded like they were middle schoolers not 16 years old.
Now it wasn’t all bad. The actual story could’ve been good if they just got to the point faster.

I'm a big Armstrong fan, but this one didn't hit. I guess it's my own fault as I picked up up without really reading the back. I'm not much into young teenager stories, and while these characters are 17, they come across as much younger.
Also, even I couldn't suspend my belief long enough to think a 16/17 year old is a spy for a major agency... and then just dies so easily? I won't continue this series, but will continue to enjoy her adult novels.
