So many thoughts on this book. The mystery of memory manipulation and what is really going on with this group of friends. Everyone is hiding something and Blythe is determine to get to the bottom of it.

This book started off very interesting and had me unable to put it down. It was at about 25% that my excitement started to fade and by 50% I was completely out of it. I finished it by puré will to see if there was a chance it would get better. Spoiler alert it did not.

The more I sit and think about it this story got lost within itself and it was hard to believe or keep up with everything that was happening. Typically I love mysteries that are told from multiple character point of views but this one was not done well. Every other character besides Blythe was not fleshed out. Many of the crumbs laid throughout the story had no revelance to the final reveal. The final reveal was very disappointing and the final nail in this coffin.

This author has a lot of highly regarded books, I’m interested in reading another to see if the writing is different.

Blythe witnesses her friend have a mental breakdown and murder the principal, but the next day her memories are spotty, and everyone seems shifty. And really, who can you trust when you can’t even trust yourself?

This was such a fun read, and it gave me so much more thematically than I was expecting. I found the cast of characters to be interesting, and I got sucked into their world. Everyone had a backstory, and the cracks in the friend group made it all the more interesting. As the book progressed, it took some turns I didn’t see coming, and it really delved into the threads that make us who we are as people.

Thank you to Kelley Armstrong, Penguin Random House Canada/Tundra Books, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review. This book is out now, so go pick up a copy!

2.5 rounded up to 3.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

I don't think I have very much to say about this book. I didn't necessarily love the writing style but I thought the premise of the story was really interesting. (This is why I rounded up to 3 stars). I wouldn't call this book a thriller but it's definitely a YA mystery. There was a lack of character development but it kind of makes sense when secrets start unraveling.

Honestly, that's all I have to say. Will I forget this book before the month is over? Absolutely but it was a decent ride thanks to the interesting storyline.

Someone Is Always Watching is Kelley Armstrongs new ya mystery thriller and I loved it.

The story follows a group of teens in high school where odd things start happening. When one of them has a breakdown at school and murders their VP they have to ask themselves who they can trust and if they can rely on their own memories.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like how the story unfolds, how it focuses on psychology and relationships without getting too slow. In the beginning you as the reader know much more than the characters, which only adds to the mystery as you never know who is reliable and who isn‘t.
I liked our main girl Blythe. While she is a goody-two-shoes she‘s also smart, loyal and thoughtful.
There was something interesting about every character and I was engaged in the plot from beginning to end.
