I loved the cut-between chapters showing the different characters perspectives. Despite some of the plot this book seemed more hopeful than some depictions of trauma and mental illness. And this is maybe the best written description of what it is like to have a panic attack that I've ever read. Jimmy Kaga-Ricci is my comfort character.

Holy fork.

I didn't expect to feel that much.
Like, I've never been part of a fandom, even less part of a band, but this book?? It just hit me so hard, right in the chest, and I was already crying before page 100. Cause even if I've never lived like the characters, I feel so much like them. About friendships, and not being good enough, etc. and I'm not gonna go into details but I felt seen and it just hit me. Someone told me that sometimes, you just "click" with someone's way of writing, and it's so good, so powerful, and so beautiful. I think I found the author with whom I'd "click".

This is the first novel by Alice Oseman that I read, I've read the Heartstopper comics and I adored them so much. I knew the author was talented, and reading I was born for this just confirmed that. This story is told in dual POV - Angel the fangirl and Jimmy the famous guy - and this is just so good. It's about faith, and love and friendship and it's really deep and complex, which I clearly did not expect, but wow.

Read the book.
