I don't write many reviews... I'm not a wordsmith
But here goes
There's been words said
That we shouldn't read this book because the author was inspired by the Indigenous children in 'Scoop'... I'm not here to say weather you should or shouldn't read it
All I will say is ...read the book and tell me that it paints, anything to do with the Scoop or the indigenous people in anything but a positive.
(I told you I wasn't a wordsmith..lol)

I loved this book
Did I really love it..no...ok...yes
Sometimes I didn't like the pacing and the prose...it was predictable...maybe it needed to be?
What do I know?... I'm just a middle aged guy with too many feelings.

Listened to this on audiobook and enjoyed it! It reminded me of the sub-plot in Harry Potter when Tom Riddle was found by Dumbledore in an orphanage. It was fairly obvious how the story would play out but it was still a nice and enjoyable story

This book is a masterpiece of character growth, queer storytelling and of fighting back against a bigoted status quo. All the characters are marvelous in their own way, as is the message of how strong one’s found family can be in a world of discrimination. I loved it and cannot wait to read the sequel when it comes out!
