Some interesting world building but it never really came together for me. I understand the rationale for jumping back and forth between "Now" and "A Long Time Ago" but the reasons for the timing of the shifts waa unclear.

I liken this much closer to fantasy with science fiction elements. And I mean that in the best way possible. If you read and liked Borne by Jeff Vandermeer, you probably enjoy this one too.

... Also, read Borne. It's awesome.

I found the characters a bit flat, and I wish the world building was a bit more informative. The world and history seems really interesting, but it's very inaccessible.

I really don't want to spend any more time with this book than I already have. The book deserves 5 stars just on the cover, but the story and writing doesn't back up the art work.

It was difficult to tell most of the time whether it was near future, far future, etc. Ideas were introduced late, like they were used as a Deus ex style device. I realize it was a short story, but there is zero context to the background of the book. I feel like the story would have made an amazing 500-600 page novel, not a 100 page novella. The story needs fleshed out badly.

Intriguing, with a lot of hints to back story and world history, though mostly comes across as a slice of something larger. A little hit and miss - certainly some intriguing setups and development, but the AI elements were a little more uneven and the AI dialogue wasn't resonating a whole lot with me.
