I was drawn to this book because it looked and sounded like a fun rom-com, but having just finished it, I wouldn't describe it as one. I'm not sure what I'd describe this book as. I'm honestly not sure what the point of the story was. It felt like we were just following the main character, Tilly, around for several months while she lived an average life.
The synopsis made it seem like her roommate getting a serious girlfriend and her sister wanting another baby were a major impetus for her to try to find a relationship. In realty, these were little side plots that didn't seem to have much impact on Tilly. The synopsis also made it sound like love had been right in front of her all along, and she just didn't see it. This doesn't match the story at all, either. Her relationship with one guy is going in a negative direction when the only other available male character is introduced at around the halfway point in the story.
There were some conflicts thrown in throughout the story, but none of them really felt urgent or momentous, and they were all neatly cleaned up in a chapter or so. There wasn't much tension or action throughout the story to keep you reading or to pull it all together into a solid story. It felt very disjointed, with the first half being the story of one relationship and the second half being another story of a completely different relationship. There isn't really a solid plot throughout, and I wouldn't say there was big character development either.
I wanted to like this one, but overall, I was bored and didn't get much out of it.

This was a confusing read?
The first half gave a COMPLETELY different story to the second half which fell flat and failed to grab my attention at all.
It felt so disjointed and messy, there was no structure to this book and it really ruined any sort of enjoyment for me.
The only thing that gripped me was the drama that the mum orchestrated between Luke and Tilly and Cind lmao it was the only worthwhile entertainment during the whole book.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy this book unfortunately despite really wanting to.

Love, Accidentally follows the ups and downs of A&E nurse Tilly’s adventures in love. The first half of the book is spent on her relationship with fellow A&E doctor Luke, but the second half is an about face with a new relationship.
Throughout reading, I kept thinking I was on the cusp of being pulled in. I almost DNF’d several times, and looking back I wish I had. Typically I can read a book this length in a couple of days, but this one took me an entire month because I just wasn’t that interested.
I don’t understand why the author spent so much time on Tilly’s relationship with Luke. It felt like she had multiple plot ideas and was trying hard to force them together. I wish we’d have gotten a recap of Tilly’s relationship in the first couple of chapters, maybe a flashback or two, and spent the rest of the time focusing on the relationship between Tilly andWill.
I also felt like the struggles from her relationship with Luke and her new boyfriend’s past relationship were manufactured. I just didn’t buy it. It would’ve made a lot more sense if he was having trouble because he was dealing with the loss of his mom, or something else altogether for Tilly - maybe her overbearing mom? Who knows.
The plot was all over the place, and while that was frustrating enough, I just didn’t like the writing. I didn’t understand why certain scenes had so much page-time dedicated to them, while other points in the plot involved time jumps. There was also a lot of “telling” instead of “showing,” especially at the ends of chapters. It felt like the author didn’t know how else to show character development or struggles other than spelling out the thoughts Tilly was having. That’s a big pet peeve for me in books, and it happened a lot here.
I hate rating books less than 3 stars because I know authors put so much into writing a book, but this one was just a struggle for me.

Tilly is a nurse and falls into a relationship with Luke, a new doctor. However, something doesn’t add up with him. At the same time, she meets Will when his dad attempts suicide and comes into her ER.
This book had a lot of different plots and I found it bouncing around a lot. I think it had an interesting twist, but it fell a little flat for me.

This was bad…
There was no romance and 50% of the book was about someone else?!

this book was very greys anatomy & definitely full of drama and turns!! unfortunately, this one just was not for me. i found the lead character to be very difficult to sympathize with, and entirely too easily swayed by the people in her life. particularly her mother telling her to stay with a married man because she needed to "lower her standards."
Will, however, was super sweet & i really liked his storyline with his dad, but it does take quite awhile to get into his relationship with tilly.
even though this book wasn't for me, i can definitely see it being for a reader who lives for the drama in their romances :)

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC! All opinions are my own.
Love, Accidentally by Phoebe MacLeod is a rom-com that gives some early Grey’s Anatomy vibes. The book follows Tilly who is a nurse in the A&E (ER) and her romantic journey. Personally I just couldn’t get myself to like Tilly as a character. Now I watch a lot of British and other UK shows so I feel like I get a lot of the humor style over there and this book did not bring the humor for me. I also like fast paced books, but this one was so fast paced that it just felt rushed. It was definitely an okay read but not one of my favorites.

Love, Accidentally follows the story of Tilly, an A&E (emergency department) nurse. As an ED nurse myself, I jumped at the chance to read this romance novel!
I loved many of the characters in this story, & I would love to hang out with Tilly. She’s a badass nurse, she’s fiercely loyal and kind, & a little bit messy (like many of us ER nurses, haha). Phoebe MacLeod nailed that part.
As far as the plot goes, I found this book to be all over the place, much like a busy emergency department. I felt that there was too many story lines, & loose endings to tie up, causing the last third of the book to flatline. I almost signed out AMA, but Tilly convinced me to stay.
Code status: DNR.

Tilly is a 34 year old nurse who has a sister called Tash and lives with flatmates Mike and Lena, the latter a travelling doctor in far-flung places who is very rarely at home but when she is, wrecks the washing machine every time due to the sand in her clothes. Tilly works in A&E in a Tunbridge Wells Hospital and starts a relationship with junior doctor Luke until she realises he is not all he seems. At this point I really wished Tilly developed more agency over her own life and did not allow everyone to steamroll her. She should have gone to HR and not leave it to other people.
There isn't much plot and it's predictable but I liked the hospital setting. Some of the cases and the staffs reaction to them are hilarious (Maurice Minor!). It is light-hearted and extremely well-written, with well developed characters. The book is full of heart and humour, and the second romance with the son of a patient is slow-burn. Tash, Mike and his girlfriend Sarah plus Dr Patel are fun side characters and this is a light-hearted and funny story about friendship, second chances and self-discovery that can be read quickly.
