I would say this is an okay book and certainly on par with how the series has been going.

I complained in the last one that the kid was superfluous to the story - hah! Well, I guess the kidnapping was an attempt to make her more central to the story, but, eh. At that point the story had gone off the rails a little. I dunno, I definitely liked that I couldn't clearly figure out who the killer was, but I think that had more to do with the reader not really getting all the info. We all knew Tamsyn was going to be involved somehow, but I don't get why everyone was all cagey and went along with such a stupid plan! Did they think that they were all going to just go back to normal life after kidnapping someone? It was all so weird and bonkers - I just didn't buy the ending. But the series has been a little bleh ever since the kid was born, so that's just how it goes I guess. It's hard to have the same tension and passion and mystery when everyone just wants to have a happy family and raise kids. Even the grandfather has gotten boring. We'll see if I can handle one more.
