Relentless Night
New York Knights, Book 4
By: S.M. West
Narrated by: Devra Woodward, Stephen Dexter

What a ride! I love this series and this book is a slow burn, suspense filled romance! This book features Tommie and Max, best friends who are finding their feelings are more than just friends. But there is something in Tommie's past that is getting in the way. She is hiding, few people know what her life was like and she is not sure if Max will understand. And as in most cases, your past comes back to haunt you, and Tommie finds herself in danger, and making decisions to keep those she loves safe. It's full of twists and turns, unlikely allies, hateful enemies and a love like no other. We also get a chance to see our favorite characters from previous books which makes us feel that sense of friends and family. I am loving this series and can't wait to see what SM West has next for us.

The narration of this book was spot on. A better casting could not have been made. Devra Woodward is fantastic and brings all the elements of Tommie to life. She is complex, has had so much happen to her that Woodward had her work cut out for her pouring all the strength and emotions into her performance. Stephen Dexter, always amazing brings a fantastic partner in Max. He is so emotional when it comes to Tommie that you can feel his panic, fear and love, and then he turns the tide and gives us a formidable opponent to fight. I love this team and they were amazing.

Dark and Dangerous

4.5 stars - Yes, I totally started the series in the middle or rather close to the end. While starting at the beginning is my usual MO, it is what it is. In truth, this book knocked me for a loop. It's powerful, gritty, and dark but it's also loving, tender, and forgiving. Well, as long as your name isn't Téa or Ash.

Max and Tommie do not have an easy road ahead of them as they casually and without much forethought cross that line from friends to each other's EVERYTHING. I LOVE how easy and open both were to erasing that boundary and realizing what their hearts had been holding prisoner. Sure, Tommie had some apprehension because she fears what's lurking in the shadows - and with good reason. The acknowledgement is easy but as I said before, it's not an easy road that they traverse.

Both end up in situations that test the mettle from which their relationship is built. And let's set the record straight. Max has zero skills with undercover work - even if his heart is in the right place - but he makes up for it in other ways.

It kept my attention, making me find time to listen to more (and quite possibly causing my BP to go up while at the doctor's office; yeah, not good thinking on my part). Even the hard, trigger flipping parts made it worthwhile. (And there are some doozies in the trigger dept.)

I had the pleasure of listening to an author copy brought to life by Devra Woodward and Stephen Dexter. They did a good job maintaining the appropriate energy and suspense level as the story progressed. My only peeve is that this was an audio book so why couldn't I hear the sound file from Zero?

Relentless Night by S.M. West is a romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Devra Woodward and Stephen Dexter.

This is the forth book in the New York Knights Series. They shouldn’t be read as a standalone since they have interlinking storylines. It will be part of a five book series.

I absolutely love Suzanne’s books! I loved getting Tommie and Max’s story. I loved the chemistry between them and really enjoyed that their relationship bloomed from friendship. I can’t wait for the next book in the series Broken Night to be released on audio so I can get Tripp and Mia’s Story.

Devra and Stephen did a great job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you love romantic suspense.

This is a great story! If you want action and memorable characters this is your series. I could feel the fear, love, respect and dislike of and for these characters. I loved seeing Tommie’s story. It is so much more than I expected! The terror I could feel from her at times leaking over the audio waves was palpable. She is courageous and has great friends/boyfriend to help her. Max was great but at times he was “in so far over his head!” I could only shake my head at his helpful antics. His heart is definitely in the right place in here but he isn’t a bodyguard. I do love the connection he has with the HC family.

It is such a joy for me to see all this crew again. We also met a few new characters. While one was scary as crud the other makes me wonder if he could be reeled into this group. I don’t want to mention the mother but I will...She is evil.

Eek! That ending!!! I want to know what that audio clip said!!

While this is the fourth in the series I would not suggest it being read as a stand-alone. There are interconnecting stories with all the books. So for reading/listening enjoyment start at the beginning.

I did listen to this on audio. Debra Woodward and Stephen Dexter are the narrators. While Debra is new to me they both did a great job.

Now I Need the next one!
