god these books are so fun!!! i feel like i’m talking to a friend i grew up with about people we both knew. while the subjects in this books are much deeper than the first novel it still manages to hold that whimsical feeling of being a young woman! love love love

While I had some trouble getting into this volume, by a third of the way in I was utterly absorbed. In so many places this book broke, broke, broke my heart. There is something so raw and elemental in Ferrante's style that at times I had to put it down to escape a bit from the character's lives, like intentionally waking all the way up to avoid slipping back into a nightmare. But I mean that in a good way--it's about confronting some of what is both most banal and most challenging about being a young adult. Not always pretty, but frequently sublime.

Desde luego, lo más impresionante de estos libros es cómo están construidos esos personajes, huyendo de los arquetipos y proporcionándoles personalidades con detalles tan humanos que creo haberles conocido incluso yo, que solo he leído de ellos. Así como Lenù dice que habla y escribe Lila, así escribe Elena Ferrante.
