I really struggled with the first book in this series, but after finishing The Story of a New Name, I fully get the hype now. This is gorgeous, complicated, emotional, infuriating--just like the characters in this book. There's so much to unpack about class, gender, choices, violence, opportunity, friendship, jealousy. And the translator is insanely talented!

Read through a mixture of reading & audiobook.
