The storyline was good, always a fan of witchy books. But I felt like it was overall done before. She finds herself and fights for herself. But only because she wanted powers. And in order to get those, she needed her guys. I felt like their wasn’t enough ‘get to know each other’ moments. More of a fall in love once I lay my eyes on you feeling. And just ugh. Lol. But I’m not hating on it since you know I’m reading the next book.

The romances didn't have any good tension to make them interesting, they were just there and ready to go with minimal hesitation. The pacing wasn't as good as other series I've read by this author, but the basic plot points are interesting enough to keep me reading to see what happens. I'm currently in book four.

The main reason why I requested a copy of this title was my newfound obsession with everything reverse harem. I didn’t even stop to consider my previous experiences with the author writing, her style.
The thing is that if I purely look at the story from the technical parts then it’s pretty great. The writing is so much neater than it was in Dragon’s guard (the other book I read from Eva Chase) and the plot builds along cleaner lines as well. The world building is on the simpler side but well established and if you into the whole witches and magic thing then there is a great possibility that you are going to like the book more than me. I even see some small hints to Cinderella in it and it was an interesting twist to things. I saw the possibility in this but it just didn’t click for me.

However, my main problem was with the main character and the disconnection between her personality and the whole speed she charges into the reveres harem situation. It just made me feel like the events in the story were to orchestrated, not natural or genuine. Rose is almost 25 yet she acts like a shy and conservative 16-years-old in my opinion, partially because of her upbringing and the strange controlling environment of the witch community. But this whole situation just didn’t fit with the events for me and was a huge obstacle of my enjoyment. It doesn’t help either that while there is mystery going on in the background (which is predictable as hell) the focus is on her character and her relationships with the boys. Overall, it was a bit boring for my taste.

Also while the story is practically told from different point of views, alas the boys get their own chapters as well, I don’t feel we got to know them well enough to establish a connection to them. Something that would have helped me raise a need to read the next book.
It was an okay read, I finished it quickly and there wasn’t anything overly bad about the story, it was just not for me.

Rose is about to marry into an arranged marriage, a requirement if she wanted to awaken and maintain her witch magic. Once her magic is awakened, she would become owner of her family’s estate, so she chose to come back to it for the “consort” ceremony. Once she’s back, she connects with her childhood guys friends who are all grown up. She learns that not everything is as it seems and her guys are right there by her side.

I like this contemporary magical tale. The rules are simple enough to remember and the characters are easy to keep separated. The mystery kept me at the edge of my seat and the female voice was great. The occasional male voice seemed a bit old for this age group but there were few male pov chapters so it was easy to overlook.

it was okay

After 11 years, Rose returns to her childhood estate to arrange her marriage. After her stepmother, discovered that she was mingling with humans, they left their estate and moved five hours away. During those years, Rose was obedient and quiet. She excepted the man her mother chose for her to marry, but she never stop thinking about the five boys that she left behind.

Every witch knows the rules: stick to your own kind. Never reveal your powers to outsiders. And take a consort from the witching world or kiss your magic goodbye.

The boys that she left behind? Almost all of them remain in town and they haven’t forgotten her, it doesn’t hurt that they seem to have grown into sexy men.

They have no magic so as far as the world thinks, they have no place in her life. But they are just as charming, sweet and hot as they were before and she can’t seem to stay away.

As Rose tries to resist them, she starts to discover a plot that was hidden from her. There are secrets about her family, her betrothed, and everything she was taught about her world.

In order to claim her happiness, Rose decides that she is going to break every rule. There is as no one will keep her from her men.

I came to the series due to the prequel novella that I was given for free. This series is available on kindle unlimited, and you can’t get them individually or as one large “ box set”.

This series is very much a paranormal romance/reverse harem, or why choose. I think it was nice to come in after having read the prequel book already having somewhat of an understanding of Rose and her relationship with these men. It was interesting being able to see them as children, and then see how they changed, and grew into themselves.

There are some characters missing in this story that were introduced in the novella, but I didn’t find myself missing them. Only one had their absence explained whereas the other just seemed kind of vanish however, I wonder if I’m only noticing that because I read the novella first.

I did like the way the author kept us in the dark involving peoples motivations, and what was going on behind the scenes. We learned it as the main character learned it, and I think there is something to be said, for the planning of that type of story. It felt like there was a connection between me and the FMC as we both navigated the obstacles together.

My only complaint with this book is that the edgy/angsty love interest kind of lost that edge really quickly. You didn’t really get to see her kind of chip away at this exterior that has been present since she left and I was left wanting. I kind of wish that we had that opportunity to develop into tearing down that wall more so than we did. I love the morally Grey character, and I feel like this is who he was meant to be, but we didn’t get that banter or the development that I was looking for.

This is the second series I’m reading from this author. It took me a while to get into it but i don’t hate it. I wasn’t super interested but by at least halfway I was definitely invested in the plight of Rose and her boys. Lots of surprises and betrayals.

Wow this book was so much better than I was expecting... and I was already expecting it to be great.
I just finished it and don't even know what to say right now other than I want to read it again and I NEED the next book so bad I don't know how I'm gonna wait a few weeks for it to be released.
One of the saddest things to me is that you can never experience something for the first time again. Like reading a book.... I really wish I could reread a book and have it be like this feeling every time. Like you've just discovered something new and amazing and you're all giddy and happy... that feeling is usually only reserved for first time experiences. Kinda sucks... okay end of random rant...
But seriously I loved this book.
Rose was amazing. She never forgot the five guys who were her best friends as a child, and when she returns home she does everything she can to reconnect to them and try to make past wrongs right. She isn't a passive character, just willing to let people control her life. When she discovers everything about her life is not as it seems, she takes immediate action, discovering plots and preventing anyone from taking advantage of her. The guys were also pretty amazing. They (well almost all of them) were immediately welcoming of Rose coming back and clearly missed her in her eleven year absence. They got to know each other again and developed more mature relationships than they had as children. And the end..... wow lets just say I had a feeling someone would be showing up then and I was right!!
I'm so excited to see what book two will bring to Rose and the guys in The Witch's Consorts series!!
