Consort of Secrets

3.45 AVERAGE

I have read a few reverse harem stories, but never really sought them out. CONSORT OF SECRETS sounded intriguing so I figured it was worth a shot.

Rose is a witch and it's time to take a consort and gain her magic or lose it forever. The problem is, is that her family and her betrothed are hiding things from her. Not only that, but she is drawn to her childhood friends more than the man she is expected to spend the rest of her life with.

I enjoyed the storyline. There was a lot of mystery involved in finding out what was going on as well as the history of the witches in the the story.

It was interesting watching Rose navigate the different feelings and connections she had with the different men. They are all pretty different, but she definitely connects them all. There is a lot of sexual tension in CONSORT OF SECRETS and the actual sex scenes were well done and not over-the-top. I look forward to learning more about the 4 men we have already met and finally meeting the 5th mysterious man that rode in during the last paragraph.

After finishing CONSORT OF SECRETS I decided I really do enjoy reverse harem and have started seeking others out. I am really interested in seeing what comes after Rose's decisions and I look forward to reading CONSORT OF THORNS.

So this one had it's ups and downs for me.

Rose is a witch who is about to come into her magic. But in order to do that, she must take a consort. Kinda sucks when she has no spark with her betrothed but those four childhood guy friends, well they light the fire so to speak. What's a girl to do?

I liked all of the guys for the most part. You can tell that Chase tried hard to make them all very different from each other. But even though we had four yummy guys here, I'm really interested in the missing one. What's his deal? How is he going to fit into the equation? I also really liked Rose. I felt bad for her. She was very sheltered and everyone around her just wanted to control her. The guys let her be herself and you could just tell how much that meant to her.

What kind of rubbed me the wrong way was how very young adult this felt but Rose was almost 25. At times it felt very high school and then some steamy scene would follow that would remind me of their ages.

All in all, an interesting start to a series. I'll probably check out the next book just to see how it goes.

This is how RH should be written. I felt the connection between the MC and every guy. It felt like the MC cared about each guy and each guy cared about the MC. There was a backstory, and you got to know every guy.

This is a really different and interesting story line by Eva Chase.
I have been very into reverse harem fiction lately and while this is not the best of what I have read recently in that genre it is still quite enjoyable and a fun escape.
Looking forward to the second book.

I have to admit that it had been positively ages since the last time I read a reverse harem novel.

And, Consort of Secrets is just the kind of book that if you are even a little bit interested in that genre, your interest is sparked right away. In a major way.

First things first, what amazed me more about this book was the fact that the pages were flowing so easily and quickly, that I ended up devouring it in almost one sitting. It was perfectly written, with the story progressing in just the right pace, and, I might add, seemingly effortlessly by the author.

The combination of a well-thought plot and a great talent in writing, provides amazing results.

Rose is a great heroine, one I definitely enjoyed reading about. She even has as her 'imaginary' best friend, a character from her favorite book. And, believe me, there had been countless times in the past when I would fantasize about being best friends with my favorite heroines, too.

Another interesting trivia was that Rose and I had the exact same age in the start of the novel. 3 months to becoming 25 years old.

It was such an awesome coincidence to be able to identify with so many of Rose's attributes, that it just had to be added to my enthusiasm.

As for what makes the book fall into its genre?
This harem was literally goals, consisting from so many different types of men. From the always helpful and charming Ky to the bad boy Damon, and everyone else in between.
Just like our heroine, I found a hard time not to be mesmerized by each and every one of these boys.
The author did an amazing job in describing all of the romantic interests both physically, but most importantly, emotionally and behavior-wise.

All in all, 5 glorious stars for a read that made me feel for the heroine and her harem, made me swoon, and most of all, made me deeply admire and fan-girl over the author's writing.

Not bad

Good start to the story. I’m sure there is so much more to come but she’s got a good start with her consorts
