I was so excited to dive back into the world of Riverwilde, as I had really enjoyed Beyond the Filigree Wall. Let me start off by saying that I loved Jules and would have loved to have a POV from her as well. Even if it was just a few short chapters. Just something to balance up Nickolas, as there were moments when it seemed like Jules had the more interesting plotlines out of the two. This book also gave the reader a further look inside the Fae Prince court, which was interesting.
Something that dragged down my enjoyment of this book was the annoyingly cartoony evil characters of this book. While their shenanigans started off as a bit funny, it quickly just became a source of annoyance. Because they were just there to start the most useless drama and be the absolute worst.
If a regency inspired romantic fantasy with just a dash of fairytale retelling is your thing, then you should definitely check out this one. Also the book is only 220 pages, so it’s a fairly quick read!
