I already read books 1 and 3 of the series. Tbh i didn't like this one as much as the other two. I didn't really get attached to the MC nor their love story. The mom is such an awful person. I didn't remember her being like that.
Moderate: Gun violence and Car accident
Minor: Drug abuse

Calder and Hadley were definitely one of the best parts of the first book already and I was so excited to get into their story. While the tropes may seem overdone, Cowles manages to add a layer of suspense/mystery to the plot that really makes it stand out for me.
There are so many serious topics discussed in this book and I especially appreciated how Hadley's difficult relationship to her mum was portrayed, it was so realistic and I could really feel with her.
Cal's kids were well written, acted like actual children and made the story so much sweeter
This is definitely the right amount of spice for me in a book, especially because it fits within the plotlines. It's not as much as you get in other romances but you get so much more plot and actual romance here that I really appreciated.
The Easton siblings already have my heart and I'm so excited to read the rest of their stories!

CW: Blood, car accident, toxic relationship, sexual content, cyber-bullying, gun violence, stalking
This book series has me in a grip hold. Like I need more of this family and this town. I went from feeling so much empathy for the mom in the 1st book with Hayes to hating her with Hadley. Like dang—- she needed some serious help.
The suspense part was good, but I always wonder how much would one person be willing to take before they just leave a small town with this much violence and crime.
The love story was good and I loved the build. Calder being a dad to some of the cutest and most awesome kids on the planet helped too.
Highly recommend the series so far!
