I can already tell this is gonna become one of my favourite series!

Calder and Hadley were definitely one of the best parts of the first book already and I was so excited to get into their story. While the tropes may seem overdone, Cowles manages to add a layer of suspense/mystery to the plot that really makes it stand out for me.

There are so many serious topics discussed in this book and I especially appreciated how Hadley's difficult relationship to her mum was portrayed, it was so realistic and I could really feel with her.

Cal's kids were well written, acted like actual children and made the story so much sweeter

This is definitely the right amount of spice for me in a book, especially because it fits within the plotlines. It's not as much as you get in other romances but you get so much more plot and actual romance here that I really appreciated.

The Easton siblings already have my heart and I'm so excited to read the rest of their stories!

Oh wow. Falling Embers was a fabulous read. I already knew I loved Hadley and Calder as characters from the first book, but their story was really something special. Everything about it was so good. Hadley and Calder had great chemistry and the tension between them at the beginning was off the charts. They were perfect for each other. I loved the way Calder supported Hadley when it came to family issues and her needing to escape in certain ways. I also loved how strong of a person Hadley was in her convictions and standing up for them. Calder's kids were such a sweet part of the mix, too. The romantic suspense plot kept things moving and there some interesting surprises. I loved everything about this book. It's made me even more excited to continue this series.
