I really loved the prologue, but it took me a few chapters to get into the rest of the book. Interesting story, but I felt there were a few gaps that weren’t well-explained.

Watch the drama instead. The book is good but the drama is ten times better.

Beautiful and moving

I loved reading this book. The complexity of the world and characters made me love them. I felt pain for the calamities they faced and joy when they found happy peace. Very much suggest this book for lovers of Chinese drama and theatre.

In this short time I got: betrayals, revenge, memory loss, arranged marriages, jilted lovers, abandoned child, deceits,.. all the flavors of immortal gods court drama. Thanks, I hate it.
And I don't understand these characters, perhaps part of it it's cultural, but our main character whose first person pov we follow says one thing, does something different and I have no idea why, all the while narrating boring exposition dump.
Also, I looked at reviews on goodreads, hoping for inspiration, that it gets better and got accusations of plagiarism... it did not encourage me to continue.
