This had moment of real sweetness and fun, but the instalove and the occasional porn language during the sex scenes knocked the rating down a bit for me. 3.5 stars.

I thought this was the sweetest book. Adam had such a big heart and he had no problem telling J.J. how he felt. I also loved Adam's mom and his two brothers the sweetest people ;-) Haha J.J. didn't know what hit him when he got to know Adam better and met his family. A very nice read. I enjoy Max Vos' work because I also enjoyed 'My Hero' another great one ;-)

It's a christmas story so I always expect to have to suspend belief to be get to the schmaltzy ending.
For me, this was a book of 3 parts - the first half was quite good, all the build up of Coach and Jonesy, learnng a bit about their backgrounds, bit of is he/isn't he unrequied feelings going on. Adam did come over as a bit of a good natured, one man steamroller! I was thinking this was going to be a good 4* read.
The third quarter of the book was basically a shag fest, which in itself as a plot wasn't an issue, but I did have a few raised eye brows at some of the terminolgy (lots of belief suspension going on) for cocks and cum - it felt as if every term had to be used.
The last quarter of the story was less descriptive but didn't quite get back to the first half levels, perhaps because Adam and JJ were together by then, so no real tension left. There was a waking moment that, whilst I can see why it is there, did cause me to frown a bit. And I got my schmaltzy ending, yay!
So, whilst overall I don't think it delivered the promise of the first half for me, I did enjoy.

I thought this could have been good, but bad vocabulary (I was rolling my eyes back) and too much of a simple (not as innocent, but opposite to complex) story just ruined it.

Max Vos has blogged about his creative process. He says he starts with the seed of a story, then looks for character inspiration. Next he fleshes out the characters and lets them pretty much tell him the story they want written. In this, Max gives all the credit for his great writing to the characters, while not acknowledging his own wonderful talent.

So sweet! :) Adam and his family! <3 I love their affection, especially how they included J.J. who never got any. It was a perfect match! I love the ending paragraph, Christmas Memory indeed!

Geeeee, all the sugar...

Well, this was so unbelievably sweet, it still makes my teeth ache. J.J. is absolutely not interested in the holidays or the holiday spirit. Along comes Couch Sutton, who secretly had his eyes on him for years, and his whole Christmas is turned upside down.

It was way sweeter than what I'm used to from Max Vos, but as always he also delivered in the steam department. So it was cute, sexy and had the right holdiay spirit. But since I'm half Grinch, I'll give it 3 stars - because too much sugar makes me grumpy - and I have to say, some of the typos and little errors here and there put a damper on my enjoyment.
