Super fascinating, well written, great audiobook.

I am curious what books are published in the future about these years.

Obviously has it’s bias, but is named “Rage” because Trump has said he causes people to rage.

I’m catching up on some reviews after reading the whole slate of Trump books that came out over the past few weeks. Bob Woodward is always going to be my gold standard, and this book is a well researched middle chapter to the Trump presidency. The Audible includes recordings of telephone calls with Trump showcasing the accuracy of the reporting.

Woodward's book about Trump's actions and responses to the world surrounding him make so much more sense in the context of Mary Trump's Too Much and Never Enough. Woodward highlights Trump's bumbling dialogue, his insistence on being worshipped, his inability to accept anything other than metaphorical pats on the back that he is "the best."
Despite facing a once-in-a-century pandemic, Trump continued to carve out time to talk to Woodward instead of dealing with the crisis surrounding him, bragging about how great he is even as he insisted that Bob would try to portray him badly. As I currently read HR McMaster's Battlegrounds, RAGE was able to additionally frame some of the logic (or lack thereof) in Trump's foreign policies too. I found Trump's own words truly hammered home Woodward's final assessment - Trump is not the man for the job of President.
Considering this ended in mid-summer 2020, I look forward to reading Bob Woodward's upcoming collaboration with Bob Costa on the final days of Trump's presidency, as I am curious to read their take on the events of the last few months.

Bob Woodward is a masterful journalist. His ability to ask difficult questions, to encourage the conversation and report the truth is amazing. This book was frightening however, learning how close we were to war with North Korea, how Trump built his empire of sycophants and how few experts have been in charge these last several years. It is true, Donald Trump has the ability to bring rage out in people, and he agrees. Fortunately for our democracy, our country, rage is enough to bring out a change and rage fatigue can soon be put to bed. This was my first Woodward book, but will not be my last (just my last about Trump)!

Fascinating but nothing shocking unless you haven’t been following political news for the last 4 years. Trump has the habits of a gossipy grandma addicted to calling and complaining about anything and everything.

At times, the boorish language of the former president are enlightening and give what I was hoping for in this book: a glimpse into what the man who was president is really like, how he governs, and his reaction to the worst health crisis in over a century.

Other times - most of the time - it demonstrated an absence of leadership, and a man who only cares for himself. Nothing new in that regard.

I applaud Bob Woodward for his insightful and informing book, and for an "ear" into conversations with the President of the United States. I want everyone to know, it took so long to read because I was covering my ears and wanted to scream.

I give this 4 stars for how well it was written, not for the subject! Trump remains infuriating, but Woodward wrote an excellent book.

Prosaic, steady writing. The best part is the verbatim accounts of the conversations between Trump and the author. They give a real insight into Trump's thinking.

A detailed accounting of the Trump presidency, using direct interviews with Trump and his staff.

It details his divisiveness, indecision, failure to lead, and correctly concludes he is the wrong person for the job.
