'One blissful night has certain consequences that might just lead to love.

Damaris Honeywell, daughter of Viscount Matheson, is a proper London debutante suffering from one thing – an unwanted betrothal. When she conceives of a plan to ruin her reputation by attending a Cyprian’s ball, she never imagined she might meet the man of her dreams – or what would happen from that single interlude…

Callum Murray, Laird O’Donogue is a devoted Scotman who wasn’t looking for pleasure that night in London, but when an opportunity presented itself in the mysterious form of Lady Chemistry, how could he refuse? Weeks later, he’s still bewitched by the lady in red. It’s only through pure happenstance that they are reunited – and he vows to never let her slip through his fingers again.

But how can he convince the lady that they are meant to be together?'

The Scot's Bairn is a standalone historical romance  that was originally published as part of the Lords, Ladies, and Babies amthology.

This story is very short, totaling at about 90 pages, but there is a decent amount of story. It's a fun and sweet plot that is fast paced, but maages to not feel too rushed. I do however think that it would have been so much better were it a bit longer so that the bit after they meet again didn't feel like it was being played on fastforward. I liked both Damaris and Callum, they're sweet characters. Their meeting is a bit of a stretch and she's a bit naive in her plotting, but I enjoyed it and it made sense for her to be so naive about such matters.

The only thing that bothered me, I don't want to spoil so I'm going to be intentionally vague, but it was the matter of the vows, the situation in which they are made was just pushing things a bit too far in the realm of defying feasibility. Like there was so much time, they just...what? Forgot they were facing a deadline? There were just too many extremes in the situation. I know it was supposed to be amusing, but I felt more like rolling my eyes. Other than that though it was a fun and sweet story and I enjoyed it and it's a good quick read if you're looking for one.
