We speak to navigate ourselves
away from dark corners and we become,
each of us, cartographers.

got to re-read my all-time fav anthology today!!! I don't think I truly understood the magnitude of possibilities that an anthology could hold until reading this. I'm forever grateful for Miller and Kai Kruse for introducing me to the theory of 'immappancy' and challenging me to delve more critically into how something seemingly trivial could be an instrument of 'vampiric orthography'.

Fav poems: Quashie's Verse; Me-No-Sen-You-Come; Hymn to the Birds; Distance; xxii; xxiii; xxvi: in which the rastaman gives a sermon; When Considering the Long, Long Journey of 28,000 Rubber Ducks

really brilliant, so vivid. the narrative running through the collection is very strong (one of the strongest of any collection i've read), witty and sly and enlightening all at the same time.
