An epic and unique story. Adams writes rabbits as... well, rabbits. You really feel as if you are reading about a group of actual rabbits, not humanized, romancing and bipedal human/rabbits as I feel animals are more often portrayed as in fantasy stories. The characters are numerous and entertaining, without feeling overwhelming. The story twists and turns along the way, with lots of cool rabbit mythology stories strewn in between, and ends up making the book feel much longer than it actually is. I loved it, and I hope you do, too!

A very moving adventure about rabbits. The finale is a bit of a mess but the characters are very good and I grew very attached to them. Took ages to read though.

It's hard to think of Hazel and his friends as rabbits because they go beyond long ears and silflay. I had a hard time getting through Watership Down, but it wan't because I didn't enjoy reading it. In fact, there were many chapters that kept me thinking for an hour or more. No, this book was more like taking bites of a rich cheesecake. Sometimes I ate too much and grew tired of the taste, but when I went back for a late night snack, I found myself enjoying each delicious page. The epilogue brought a tear to my eye, so I won't ruin that for anyone caring to read my review. Great read if you have the time, patience, and can read analytically.
