Absolutely one of my favorite books of all time. Plays like fantasy with all these traditions and rules unknown to mankind but for rabbits! There's something to be said about humans in the book as well. We all see the big picture but what about all that tiny little pictures that make up our perspective? I cannot stress how many layers this book has to offer readers and I suggest everyone read this book at least once.

It's been a long time since I took the time to read a fictional novel, and I chose this work for my home days because of the cold outdoor weather in London. This is indeed a great adventure novel about rabbits and vividly described the landscape of the UK village. The novel also reflects the fierceness of life of creatures in nature and depicts the negative impact of people on the natural ecosystem – a problem that is very current today. Except for some characters in Rabbits that are not built in the inner mind and whose role is not very clear, the novel is very good when reading with an innocent and comfortable mind. Reading this novel makes me feel like a child, accompanying the characters in the interesting adventures to the strange land, while present life is very stressful. This will always be a great memory in my heart, and if I have the opportunity (or rather, if the cost is not too expensive), I would have/will go to Watership Down and see how the descendant rabbit today is living.

While a tad overlong, Watership Down functions well both as an entertaining work of children's fiction and as a parable of the ecological disaster humankind is forcing upon the planet.
