It says something when my favorite characters are those that are in one scene each and have maybe 10 lines, put together (but let's face it, John-John is the best and says 2 things).

I wanted to like this, but I didn't. The story feels under-worked.

The MCs have no depth. Each is too perfect.
It's like all the current, top tropes were put on a whiteboard and smashed into James's profile. He has a British father, loves to read books, is good at sports-ball, super hot, a gentleman to the point it's so unrealistic, and is going to do pro-bono immigration law in 2-3 years when he can't sports any longer. I can't suspend my disbelief THAT much.
And Simone is a Ivy league librarian who teaches children to read in her free time and brings books to the club because she's only there to babysit her twin brother because classic literature is life? I can only do so much.

But him calling her Belle in reference to Beauty and the Beast? Cute af.

Then we have the abrupt realization on her end about why she's afraid of relationships. I get where it's coming from, but the suddenness was difficult to swallow. And what's the significance of The Count of Monte Christo (besides it being a banger?).

And don't get me STARTED on the balcony scene. It was a cute swerve, but I think I vurped when... yeah. Just thinking about it makes me feel icky again.

And what happened to the fake Australian and why did he have a peacock???

Cute, quick listen. It’s okay to make time for yourself.

A sweet little accidental marriage love story between a football player and a librarian. Also a brother's best friend/secret crush romance thrown in. I enjoyed this audible audio exclusive with two narrators. A fun, fast read.

i'm on a romance novella kick rn and thought this would fit the bill. it was... fine. i'm glad i got to try a new author and nothing stood out about this as bad but i won't be able to remember it tomorrow. i think smut > rom coms for me for novellas (and novels tbh but that's another story lol).

This was a QUICK read but it took me awhile to read it. I enjoyed it for what it was. I felt like I needed more but it was good for what it was. I’m trying to get into romance again and I was expecting sexy but that was definitely missing from this book.

I am really enjoying these audible originals! This was another cute read and who doesn’t love a drunken Las Vegas marriage story. What I appreciated most was the underlying narrative around family relationships and love. Simone was content by missing her life to take care of her dad and brother. James wanted to be her partner and give her love and take care of her like she did her family. This was a lovely read!
