P. 186, about reading, "...I'd recommend asking yourself these questions after finishing a book...
1. Was it useful? What for?
2. Did I like it, and Why?
3. Did it change the way I think? How?
4. Will it change the way I behave? "
So for me,
1. This book came to me at the right time, because I have been thinking about the meaning of reading and traveling. There must be something more than adding +1, checking off from a list for these two things. This book shows me a way of finding meaning and appreciate them.
2. Yes, I like it. I share the love of books and flowers with the author. Her descriptions of the bookstore and the garden just make me happy. On page 187, a neighbor girl tells her mother "Mama, come smell the bookstore!" Love this!
3. and 4. Not a whole lot, but confirms the way I am approaching paying attention to daily living.
This book also "documented" life during COVID from January to June of 2021, in a remote town, Lucignana, off in Tuscan, Italy. Just a slice of our communal memories of that time.
Then there was the story about her mother's first husband, a few months after wedding, drafted to fight WWII for Italy, and lost touch. The official record was still "Missing in Action." Over the years, when most of her mother's contemporaries faded away, even his existence was in doubt.
Was there really a wedding? Or was that a story she made up? However, with 21 Century Internet and social media, his tag showed up in some auction site. Then someone found the author with the same town name. It proved he was real, and the author finally brough the tag back. A closure to a war affected live, after eighty years.

What a wonderful, magical and sweet book. A diary of a bookshop, a poet, the time of COVID, a village, and many other things. Feminist in the most pure way. Not fighting not against anything. Just inspires and loves humbly and purely while teaches.
I loved every page. It is magic.

Piacevole lettura, che come al solito ha portato come fine ultimo quello di allungare all'infinito la mia già ingestibile lista di libri da leggere, e anche quella di visitare questa libreria da sogno un giorno.
A bit of an odd tale, not linear. It reads more like a real journal/diary in the disjointed fashion real ones are written vs. the lovely, prosy fictionalized ones. Not sure where I fall with this one.
If you like books, this quite an enjoyable read. The author also delves into her small town and her family. I'd love to go to her bookshop!
