Book two of the series, well-remembered from reading in childhood.

This book is middle grade yet the stakes are so high. But what I found even more horrible, really heartbraeaking was Melissa's situation and then the reveal about her father.
Not saying it isn't age appropriate just that it is one heavy piece of literature. But also, they can morph into animals.

Again, I have too much nostalgia for these books to be truly accurate I think. But I am struck by their depth and complexity considering the age group to which they are targeted. No punches pulled and I really respect that. I'm enjoying diving back in.

Rereading the series, more poignant now than at 8 for sure

My first Animorphs book - saw the cat on the cover in second grade at the bookfair and knew I had to have it.

One of my favourites here, and the first Animorphs book I ever read/stole off my brother. Rachel is one of my favourite narrators and the parts where she's the cat are very cool. Admittedly there might not be as much action as some of the others, but I think the excellent description and tension make up for that. The whole subplot with Melissa is also surprisingly emotive. Definitely classic Animorphs
