I'll be honest, this was boring. I fell asleep several times and didn't bother to rewind it to where I remembered listening to. There was literally nothing going on in the story that was at all interesting. Mona became whiny and I couldn't stand her anymore. Quinn wasn't interesting at all like he was in the last one. Lestat was quite boring, and I didn't ever think I could say that of him!

Lestat's narration of this book was much too completely self-indulgent, both for the character and for Rice. I couldn't stand Mona's character, although I don't remember hating her when I read the Mayfair witch series. The best part about this book is that it rehashes the history of the Mayfair witches. Other than that, I was quite disappointed.

this is another vampire story, taking over the blackwood farm story where it left off, as told by lestat. this is good, like all of her books, and i love that the mayfair witches and the vampire saga have been joined to one now, although sadly i think it's the last one ever, now that she's converted over to christianity... read this!!

Do you want to read this book? Go ahead and just slam your head on a desk three times. Trust me, you'll feel better about your decision to do that than you will about your decision to read this book.

I'm not sure when The Vampire Chronicles started to fall apart. I don't want to blame the Mayfair witches, but I suspect it was somewhere around here. After having read Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat I could never have imagined that those novels would lead up to this.

Where is the Lestat that we have all come to love? He certainly is not present in this novel. I was utterly disturbed with how uninterested I was with anything in this novel. I at least expected to enjoy moments where Lestat was present but I didn't even care for those moments. I barely even made it through this--but I am too stubborn to toss a novel to the side once I'm more than three chapters in.

Again, slam your head on a desk three times. You'll feel much better after doing that than you will when you finish this book.
