I have no words. This was such a pleasant change after reading The Girls, and I've never been so happy to be so frightened.

Wonderfully written. Brilliantly structured. Smoothfully connected and intertwined. You bet your ass I will be sitting down and analyze the hell out of this shit.

Remarkable, truly remarkable.

creepy and unsettling, but not particularly well-written (which i guess makes sense given its origins - definitely would’ve benefitted from further editing though)

I’m going to start out by saying I can understand why this book would be divisive amongst its readers. I loved it, though! I thought the story was incredibly interesting and just couldn’t put it down for any real amount of time. There’s a lot of horror in existence and I think Penpal captures that well.

I didn’t expect to love it and enjoy reading it that much, it was so creepy and so emotional.

3/5 ⭐ (SPOILERS AHEAD)

This book is downright creepy.
I enjoyed it but not as much as I enjoy other horror books.
To be honest, it was really slow-pacing. There was a lot of unnecessary info. But mainly, the story was just SLOW, for me.
And as you go through the story, you'll just be creeped out like the way I did. 50% in the book, there were so many creepy things happening.
However, the ending! THAT i never expected. It was sad. It was heartbreaking but also missing so many information for the readers to understand. It just keeps me hanging. There wasn't any explanations about why the stalking happened and why Josh in the end. What he did with Josh for so many years. What the suspect relationship with Mrs Maggie or what. There are so many questions that makes me want to give this not higher than 3 stars.
You know the feeling when our parents are not saying ALL of the things that we should know because we are young? That exactly happens with N. And he should be more aware of it.
Also, there is a photocopy of a police warrant about the stalking. Is this story based on real life? Cuz if it was, then the creepiness DOUBLED.

Well this was utterly devastating, damn.
(For the record, did tear up at the end at the sheer pain and hopelessness of it all, it felt all too real.)
