"Do you have a favourite saying?" asked the boy.
"Yes" said the mole.
"What is it?"
"If at first you don't succeed, have some cake?"
"I see, does it work?"
"Every time."

This is a book that everybody should read. Beautifully illustrated it follows a young boy as he explores nature one spring. During his adventures he befriends a mole, a fox and a horse and together the ponder what life is all about.

Filled with affirmations, it reminds the reader to enjoy life and not to judge oneself too harshly. To life in the moment and to take time to reflect. To meditate and breathe. To love and be loved,

A well deserved 4 stars.

this book is wholesome and like a hug — a little cliche at times and I wanted it to go deeper — but beautiful and I want a copy to keep! Would be so excited to see more from this author

This is a very touching book about friendship, love and acceptance. It’s a journey and an opportunity to look back at how far you’ve come. While it’s a quick little read, it’s thoughtful and the illustrations will make you want to go back through it a second or third time.

This book reads like a Pinterest search for “inspiring quotes”. This is basically the “live, laugh, love” of books and I was really underwhelmed. I’m very happy it’s touched so many people and there are so many positive responses to this book but I’m personally not impressed. The messages are great but none of them go deep enough for me to feel like I’ve learned anything new in this world that is now constantly pushing positivity and mental health awareness. I see phrases like this all the time in my feed personally so they have lost their impact when I see them now it’s honestly just cliche and sounds like bad celebrity poetry mixed with Winnie the Pooh.

The one star is for the beautiful illustrations.
