5 stars. The only book I’ve ever annotated willingly. I sob every time. I re-read this book every time im in a place in life where it gets too hard to keep going. When I feel too alone, too burdened, like too much of a burden, I reopen this book and read the whole thing to myself. And every single time I cry, and every single time a part of my inner child is healed.

Laat alle kritiek (plakkerige clichés, gebrek aan narratief, niet echt ontwikkelde personages, enz.) even aan de kant en laat dat innerlijk kind eens komen piepen. Inderdaad, al was het maar heel eventjes. Dan zit er in 'De jongen, de mol, de vos en het paard' van auteur en schilder Charlie Mackesy sowieso wat tussen dat dit hard zal raken. En moet het wel degelijk bekennen: troost nam zelden deze bijzonder esthetische doch kort door de bocht, rechttoe/rechtaan verpakking aan. Om naar believen in te dwarrelen.
