So beautiful

I don’t get why this is a book or why it is so successful. Sure the illustrations are lovely, but it doesn’t have enough material to warrant its reception. It is basically a very short Instagram page with mainstream quotes.

Wholesome content!! Read it at a shop and finished it in a go and I'll buy it somewhere so I can embrace the little wholesome love, advice and content inside. A definite 100/5 will read when I am sad, happy, angry, or just anyday!

I heard a lot about this book and so I was pretty hyped about seeing it IN ENGLISH even in my library (one of them). However... while I do like the friendship between the animals and the boy and the sketches for most, and handful of the quotes were nice (albeit so so not original), it just felt like a self-help book. The quotes felt very random, very out of place, and at times it just felt a bit too much sugar (I am not the type of girl who is into quotes like: OMG YOU ARE SO SO LOVE and YOU ARE SPECIAL JUST FOR US and We love you for who you are.). It felt like someone just made some sketches to show a story and then decided to just dump some of their favourite quotes on top of it instead of making an actual story to go along with the story the sketches tell.
It is a shame. Oh well, I gave it a shot.

This is a very heartwarming book with touching illustrations. It almost feels like a bedtime story for people of all ages, which makes it such a beautiful gift.

However...

I gave it 3 stars because the plot is aimless and the font is sometimes hard to decipher, which can make or break a mostly visual book reliant on few bits of texts.

If this would have been a collection of drawings with insightful "life truths", I would have accepted it fully and offered it 5 stars. Unfortunately, the thread connecting everything is oftentimes hard to see.

I don't want to address some clichés in the wisdom presented because that would ruin some of the beauty of this book, which I most certainly don't want to do.

Nonetheless, I shall enjoy everynight some sips of this book, while focusing on delicious cake ;)
