Received this book as a last minute Christmas/birthday gift right before a long flight. It’s a very quick but lovely and comforting read, one I might revisit whenever I need a reminder to slow down and breathe

A little boy gets advice from his animal friends.

If there was ever a book needed for this day and age, it’s this one. The simplicity of four unlikely friends sharing their wisdom and experience with each other is what builds the foundations of this beautiful book. Accompanied by Mackesy’s illustrations, the words and lessons within this book are ones that could be relevant to anyone, anywhere. This book could help a lot of people, even those that don’t even realise they need it, and to me, that’s what makes this book even more powerful and even more important.
Mackesy has said that each character represents the different parts of a person and the more I read it, the more I see parts of myself in each of the characters. If a book isn’t to see yourself represented in someone else’s creation, then what are they for. This book teaches us to never stop asking questions, to always be kind, to remember that tough times don’t last, and that you’re never alone, even if it feels like it.
If you haven't read it, read it, it might have more of an effect on you than you think.
“Sometimes, all you hear about is the hate, but there is more love in this world than you could possibly imagine.”

This book reminded me of Winnie the Pooh in its use of embodying friendship between animal and child. Though the print was a bit difficult to read, each page beautifully illustrated and the advice the mole offered was relevant and easily understood by young children.
