I began reading this book without having any expectations on how it’d be. I’ve never read this author before, but I do love a college romance. This book was all the things! The drama, the hope, the petty and the crazy were all included. I loved Finn’s growth over the course of the book, but I felt that Scottie devolved. Her behavior became more chaotic and her story arc wasn’t believable. I kind of just scratched my head thinking did she really need to have one more thing added to her plate? I could have lived without it. Overall it was a good story, however it was way too long and drawn out in some areas and too short in others (her accident and acclimation
Okay, this story definitely did not go the way I thought it was going to go, I didn’t think I’d be holding back tears by the end of it… but here we are. First of all if you are expecting the sweet and funny romcom vibes like MaxMonroe normally have, this isn't that book, Its more angsty and emotional. It definitely deals with some sensitive subject mater, and trauma, which MaxMonroe in my opinion handle well.
I will say the FMC is literally one of the strongest I've read about, the journey she goes through in this story, and the amount of times she continues to get back up, and thrive, you cant help but to appreciate Scottie.
This story will take you on an angsty and emotional ride, but Maxmonroe throw in humor and lightness throughout, with some familiar faces. Although this story was heavy, It did leave me with longing for more of them, and more of the side characters. I definitely am hoping Ace and Julia are next... We need a Kelly and Kline relationship.
P.S. I will say I laughed hard when Cassie first meet Fynn, literally only she would answer like that.

Holy moly, what a journey. Learning Curve pulled me in for the delicious tropes, but it ended up being a story full of so much more than I expected. The angsty, dramatic era of Max Monroe is here- there’s heartbreak, emotive intensity, heart wrenching adversity and tragedy, emotional turbulence. It’s all the highs and lows of young love and growing up…when youth also intertwines with the highs and lows of life, of fate. What a roller coaster of emotion!
I came for the tropes- college virgin cheerleader and the bad boy?! But I stayed for the gripping challenges they both face- both are so much more than that. Scottie and Finn both have so much emotional baggage to work through. On the surface they are opposites, but their hearts align in so many ways. Both of them hiding behind their expected facade to mask, protective of the most pained parts of themselves. Finn’s edge is all a mask for the broken and bitter parts of himself. Underneath his intensity and anger he’s protective and loving, loyal to those he loves. And Scottie’s bubbly cheerleader visage camouflages her own hurt and pain.
These two go through a lot- almost a Herculean emotional journey. The twists and challenges thrown their way are heartbreaking and harsh, at times hard to swallow. Theirs isn’t just a journey of love, but it’s also one of survival and resilience in the face of the constant setbacks. College drama and family issues have nothing on the brutality of the challenges the real world can throw at you. Time and time again their love and connection is tested.
At times it feels like almost to much- almost like this story isn’t quite sure what it wants to be, so instead it feels like a barrage of adversity and endless hurdles. The twist in the end was certainly unexpected, and jarring…and it felt so catastrophic that I wish that alone had been their story- facing that challenge, the fall out and challenges and coming together as a couple in their new reality feels like such a huge path forward, like the story almost ends when the real journey for them begins, But i’m guessing we’ll see more in future installments. And truthfully, the story already was feeling so long- I loved the characters, I love their moments, I think it just need some trimming to focus in on just what was their couple’s path. Each part was great, but I felt like we just ended more of a center narrative.
While this story might feel like a new era of Max Monroe story telling, some of their hallmarks reign supreme. Vibrant characters, fun moments, and of course, and expansive and quirky secondary cast. And i’m looking forward to their stories. Where I hope we see more of these two and their path forward. My heart still hurts for them- but their unconditional love endures, even if their journey isn’t what they expected. And that’s the learning curve we all face- the strength we find when things are really, really hard and life doesn’t happen how we plan it. But through it all, they have each other. Their love is hard fought and beautiful and in the end, invincible.

Max and Monroe.. what can I say? Ive literally been hooked since the beginning when Finn cleaning Scottie’s knee. The love that they have for on another is one of a kind. No matter how many times they push each other away they end up helping each other through the toughest of situations. All I can say is True love is beautiful. The angst in this book is unreal it has you on your toes wondering what’s going to happen next whether is something that making you feel big emotions or if it’s a cutesy scene. I loved this read and honestly can say I can’t wait to read more books by these two.
This was my first Max Monroe book, and it most definitely will not be my last! Let me start by saying that this book is thick! BUT it is worth it! Finn and Scottie’s story was ridiculously emotional, full of swoony moments and so much heart that it was impossible to put down. The side characters were perfect, and definitely get us excited for their future stories. I loved how this wasn’t your typical college romance. These characters were put through the wringer on the way to their HEA. Scottie was ridiculously independent, headstrong and feisty. But she was also kind and sweet. Finn was amazing! He was broody, slightly grumpy and growly. But he fell so hard for Scottie. Once he was in, this boy was ALL in. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but these two really go through a lot to overcome their past traumas, as well as, new traumas. But their relationship really does shine through it all. Finn’s commitment to Scottie is a thing of beauty, and absolutely brought me to tears a few times. This book was heavy, sweet, heart wrenching and funny. I definitely recommend!
I am going to love this series! How cool to continue the stories of our favorite characters through their kids Ace is such a mini Thatch and love that they are still the same despite their age. I can’t wait for Ace’s story but I am sure M & M are going to make us wait until the end! The detail and drama at Dick U kept me on the edge of my seat. Scottie is such an inspiration and I want to be like her!
Omg, this book…man this book. I don’t even know how I feel. I mean super happy at that ending & definitely that epilogue.
But holy smokes Batman, everything that led up to it was wild & crazy & had me wanting to Finn out on some people.
Scottie is starting her freshman year at college with her boyfriend from back home, thinking all she’ll have to worry about is keeping up her grades so she doesn’t lose her cheerleading scholarship. But a chance encounter when trying to get to class & avoid the rain, has a flip happening in her life….that’s when she meets Finn.
Finn is also starting college & trying to avoid his past but also going to this school was his way of dealing with something his anger was holding on to. After finding out some secrets of his father’s past, he thought going to this college was a way to do something about it. What he never expected was for Scottie to cross his path.
Their relationship starts out a bit wonky because he has it in his head that he’s no good for her & it’ll deter him from his plans. But Scottie has a way a sneaking past his defenses & despite trying to avoid her, he can’t.
He messes up, she messes up but inevitably they persist & their real takes a turn for the better after quite a few crazy occurrences involving her ex-boyfriend, a cheer teammate, & her mother (whom she avoids because she’s an alcoholic)
Thankfully Finn is there to help her after she realizes she needs him. Then their relationship really hits it off & they have themselves a good run of nothing bad happening. And man do I love their relationship, they are so cute together.
But then tragedy strikes & Scottie is left reeling from an injury that completely shatters any thoughts or plans she had of her future. And because of this she spirals, which come on I think I would react about the same as her, but Finn doesn’t let her push him away.
In the end, she realizes he isn’t going anywhere & she doesn’t really want him too. Their make up was so heartbreaking & heartwarming all at the same time, I had to fight the tears

Learning Curve by Max Monroe is the perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.
Finn Hayes is hot, handsome, grumpy and carrying a lot of baggage and no doubt we will be attracted to such broody character like Scottie. She is sweet, adorable and wants to crack him.
From the first chapter, Max Monroe hooks you with witty banter and a storyline that feels fresh yet comforting. The characters are vibrant, relatable, and oh-so-charming, all inclusive of our side characters. They are amazing and lovable.
Our leading duo, with their undeniable chemistry, brings a fun dynamic that perfectly balances the more tender, emotional moments of the story. It's the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud, swoon a little, and maybe even tear up when you least expect it.
The themes of self-discovery, love, and the ups and downs of life are woven seamlessly into the narrative, making it not just a romance but a story about growth and embracing change. If you’re a fan of rom-coms that leave you with a smile and a full heart, Learning Curve is a must-read!
