The wait was sooooo worth it! This installment brought us back into the wonderful world of Nevermoor with our cast of favorite characters - but the world and the people grew is realistic and wonderus ways.

The journey of self discovery that Mog goes on felt realistic for a 13 year old. Watching her and her friends interact, growing her wondersmith abilities, and solving a murder!

This was a great start to the second story arc of three books. The only downside of finishing this book is that I greedily want the next.

I absolutely love being back with Morrigan and unit 919. In this book we get to explore a whole new side of nevermore which was so unique and intriguing. We also get to learn more about Morgan's family and where she came from which was really exciting. I love the mystery Element to this book. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't expect as well as a few things I was able to predict which is exactly how I like it. I love all these characters so much. Hawthorne is probably my favorite because he is absolutely hilarious. Jupiter is amazing as always and I love the sibling-esque relationship that has formed between Morrigan and Jack. This is absolutely one of my favorite series and is one. They are some of the most whimsical, fun and yet somehow dark and intriguing books I've ever read. So happy to have them in my collection.

Happy Reading my Friends.

‘Winter’s last midnight ticked closer.’

Well, it has been a long five years between instalments of Nevermoor, but picking up the fourth book in the series was like rejoining a group of (mostly) friends.  Morrigan Crow (aged thirteen) learns that she has family in the Silver District, the exclusive, prestigious and wealthy part of Nevermoor. Morrigan’s family (on her mother’s side) is nothing like she expected but her desire to learn more about her mother has her keen to learn more about them. Morrigan is invited to her aunt’s wedding in the Silver District: this marks the beginning of several mysteries   which she and some of her colleagues will work hard to solve.

At the same time, as a Wundersmith in training, Morrigan must deal with prejudice from those who are deeply suspicious of Wundersmiths. She is also learning quite a lot from Ezra Squall, as his apprentice, and is uncertain about sharing this with her guardian, Captain Jupiter North. Morrigan
is also keeping this secret from her friends in Unit 919.

Lots of complex relationships to navigate, a few mysteries (and a murder) to solve, and not always within the comfort of the marvellous Hotel Deucalion. If I had a complaint, it would be that I did not get to see enough of Fenestra the Magnificat. Still, Morrigan’s horizons are expanding, including her knowledge and practice of the Wundrous Arts.

I enjoyed learning more of Morrigan’s family history, of watching her build relationships and grow in skill.

What will the fifth instalment bring? I hope I don’t have to wait another five years to find out.

This book delighted and distracted me from the experience of having a fractured toe, and that’s all you need to know.

I read the first three books in 2022, and reading book four after the  long absence really cemented how fun and wonderful this series is to me. Love the characters, all the whimsical environmental elements, and it’s a series that makes me laugh out loud.

Hopefully we won’t have as long a wait for the next books 😆
