This was so good. Maybe a little long, but I ate it all up, except the section in the middle where she ditched school for two weeks to hang out with all the posh snobs.
I loved how we kept just finding out more and more about Morrigan’s family as the story went on. I was not expecting her paternal uncle to show! But even though I loved all of that, the best bit was when she read the letters from Jupiter and remembered who her real family was. I almost cried.
While I had a sense of how the mystery part would play out, I loved the revelation at the end.
I would’ve liked another visit to one of the wundrous divinities, but I guess I can wait three more years for the next one 🙄.

Morrigan had many funny moments and she’s definitely getting that teenage energy, which I love.

Fun book, but I agree with some of the negative reviews. This book feels like a long side quest without moving forward the macro plot of the series. It read more like the next book in a serialized adventure. But, I still enjoyed it. The character relationships between morrigan and cadence, jack, and Jupiter were all great. We learn more about Morrigan’s family, and that was all pretty interesting.

On the other hand, I don’t really understand why this book was conceived as a murder mystery. I like murder mysteries, but it didn’t feel central to morrigan’s story other than giving her something to do. That plot lacked personal stakes for the character. But you know what was compelling and had personal stakes? Morrigan’s secret from Jupiter. While this got played out way too much, I felt invested in the outcome and anticipated their conversation the entire book. That should have been the central conflict and the plot of the book should have been developed around that. The murder mystery was a sideshow, albeit an enjoyable one.

Didn’t mean to sound too negative, as I did quite enjoy my reading experience. But I was left puzzled after finishing the book because all the elements didn’t quite come together. But for the intended audience, this remains a wonderful series.

Simply obsessed with this found family who made me cry. The Nevermoor lore and worldbuilding is so juicy and clearly each aspect of the series has been so well thought out. Also, each book gets progressively more queer which I'm absolutely loving
