Loved it! This might be my favourite series of books. We got to know more of Morrigan’s friend this go around. Enjoyed how the world keeps getting richer. This book brought fresh people, perspectives, storylines to the universe of our Wundersmith. Didn’t go where I thought it would. What a happy surprise. Will probably re read ASAP

Easily, without a sliver of a doubt, my favourite middle grade series of all times at the moment. The charm, wonder (wunder?), and heart are still here, and adding a whodunnit element to the recipe was a masterstroke. The only slight blip for me was the climax, which didn’t deliver entirely on the promises Townsend had set up. But other than that, an absolute joy. Seeing how the author managed to tie in multiple details that seemed mere flavour in the previous entries in a way that felt absolutely natural left me both envious and craving for more books. Definitely worth the wait.
