I came in knowing that this wasn’t going to be like the broadway play. But I was not expecting this either. It was a good book but definitely had some dated-ness to the writing and concepts. I would definitely do a little research if you plan to read and adjust your expectations accordingly.

Wicked offered such a unique and fascinating reimagining of the classic Wizard of Oz story. I really enjoyed seeing Elphaba’s perspective — her character was so much deeper and more complex than the villain label she's usually given.

The world-building was rich and detailed, and I appreciated how the story explored themes of good, evil, power, and injustice in a very thought-provoking way. At times the pacing slowed a bit, but overall, it was a creative, emotional, and memorable read.

A must-read for anyone who loves retellings with depth and complexity!
